STERLING AFFAIR MEETS METROPOLITAN WEST
Images By Harrison had the opportunity to photograph a spectacular “event within an event” last night on Manhattan’s west side. Top Tri State Area catering company, Sterling Affair, erected a popup donut shop inside Metropolitan West for an Open House attended by New York City’s top event professionals.
Metropolitan West is the brand new Midtown venue run by the team behind Chelsea’s Metropolitan Pavilion. Located at 639 W 46th St, the former H&H Bagels factory has been fully renovated with soaring ceilings, white walls, clean finishes and industrial details that lend a beautiful and modern edge to its 24,000 square feet of space spanning two floors.
The wonderful team at Metropolitan West invited some of the industry’s best to co-host and plan its official open house, including Party Rental Ltd for rentals, Taylor Creative for furniture and overall design, Starbright Floral Design for flowers and décor, WorldStage for sound & lighting and Great Performances and Sterling Affair for food. The undisputed highlight of the event was Sterling Affair’s takeover of the second floor featuring an apple orchard themed station and the old fashioned donut shop, Sterling Affair Donuts, shown in photos here.
Sterling Affair’s culinary and events teams designed the 50’s style popup as a nod to the building’s storied history in New York’s food scene. Guests lined up for fresh donuts served by smiling girls in retro outfits offering choices of maple, chocolate Nutella and raspberry glazes as well as ten different toppings including candied pecans, toasted coconut, bacon, sea salt and sprinkles. Classic chocolate egg creams completed the experience.
People seemed to enjoy sharing photos of their custom designed donuts on Instagram as much as they enjoyed eating them. The interactive station had everyone buzzing about what many in the industry already know, that Sterling Affair’s innovation and creativity are on par with its excellent food and service. With their corporate headquarters in New York City and a massive state of the art kitchen just across the river in New Jersey, it’s no wonder this caterer is a favorite on both sides of the river.
